The aim of this workshop is to give an overview of using digital video as a versatile medium within an intensive physical & participatory environment. Through the lens of the camera we will open the dancers eyes to the stage of the screen and lead filmmakers into the world of movement. Coming from a kinesthetic perspective we will use the physical and social landscape to generate video material. We will learn the practical essentials of camera techniques and the physical and perceptual techniques that support them. Video is an incredible medium to teach as it is both highly experimental and highly technical. It is accessible and has unlimited possibilities in content and form. In working with video it is important to understand that out of all of our senses our vision is the last to develop, and therefore a gateway connecting all of our sensory experiences.
