Simple solo and group accentuation scores in a busy lunch time plaza.
Four walkie talkies.
May 1 2000
We choose to work around the corner from the May day stage, working instead in the public plaza. The whole event was tuned by the cops and the Embarcadero security, who informed us as to what parts of the plaza where public and what parts were private.
participants: Eric Fink, Kate Gibson, Lawrenzo Share, Lea Bender, Louisa Bertleson, Olive Bieringa, Otto Ramstad, Samantha Beers, Shelly Smith, Wang PoShu
One of my favourite down town scores. A band shows up, sets up and begins to play music…waltz, klezmer…
One by one people around the perimeter of where they play begin to exagerate their activities of eating lunch, reading, chatting and so on. After a while these outrageous characters begin to approach members of the public and ask them to join them in a dance with the music. After a while many people are dancing and it no longer matters who are the “dancers”. The performers were dressed in corporate attire.
