Body-Mind Centering® is an experiential approach to embodiment, movement and consciousness. Body-Mind Centering® works with the conscious embodiment of anatomical, physiological, psychophysical, embryological and developmental principles through movement, touch and voice.

The endocrine glands are the major chemical governing system of the body and are closely aligned with the nervous system. Their secretions pass directly into the blood stream and their balance or imbalance influences all of the cells in the body. The glands are the keystone between the organs and the nervous system and between the nervous system and the fluids. They create crystalline psychophysical states through which we are able to experience and understand the universal aspect of self.

This is the system of internal stillness, surges or explosions of chaos/balance and the crystallization of energy into archetypal experiences. The endocrine glands underlie intuition and the perceiving and understanding of consciousness.

“Body-Mind Centering® is an ongoing, experiential journey into the alive and changing territory of the body. The explorer is the mind – our thoughts, feelings, energy, soul, and spirit. Through this journey we are led to an understanding of how the mind is expressed through the body in movement.” Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen

This workshop is for movers, dancers, performers, yoga practitioners, bodyworkers, occupational and physical therapists, somatic psychotherapists, infant/child educators, and those from other body-mind disciplines interested in cellular consciousness, movement, and mindfulness. No prior experience with Body-Mind Centering® is necessary.

Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad are choreographers and certified practitioners and teachers of Body-Mind Centering®. They have been collaborating for 25 years as the BodyCartography Project, an award winning international dance collaboration. They engage with the vital materiality of our bodies and minds to create live performance that facilitates a re-enchantment of embodiment, relationship, and presence. Their research questions how tools from dance, choreography and somatics can support our collective evolution in this moment of planetary crisis. Their work has been presented internationally across Norway, Europe, USA, and Aotearoa/New Zealand. They run the Body-Mind Centering Somatic Movement Education certification in Melbourne, Australia.
