weather walk

weather walk unfolds as a one-on-one (or small audience of up to three people) performance journey through the landscape in which we transform our small talk about the weather into meaningful talk about the climate crisis (without conflating the two!).

As we walk together, we will utilize tools from dance, somatics, storytelling, philosophy, and ecology to open the felt-sense and perceptual opportunities and support embodied relatedness.

Together we might exchange and feel into this weirding of the weather.  This changing climate and all its strange symptoms. “How does the climate crisis resonate in me?”

We might bring our awareness to our breath, sharing the anatomy and physiology of our breathing as we walk or run together through the forest. As performers, we could explain how the act of breathing is an exchange of air. An exchange with trees, oceanic plankton and all the other organisms around us. We are interbreathing. Breathing with this awareness makes the invisible visible. Our aliveness is dependent on the life of others. These forests and oceans are the ecosystems that make our life possible. Together we live inside of this living skin of the Earth. Specific climates emerge from specific relations between earth and air .

How are we as a species transforming this relationship? How is to feel into the experience of living inside this ecological crisis? As we work with each audience member we might explore how they could expand their sense of self to include more relations, kin, and support. Many ecological species are waiting for us to catch up. We need to understand we are in a deep community to shift how we communicate and collaborate with these species in more sustainable ways.

Weather walk is an invitation to enter an immersive experience and a potential state of falling into awe.
